Alone in the Dark Wiki

Arizona Kid is a minor character in Alone in the Dark 3.

Biography[]

Background[]

The Arizona Kid was an outlaw who was murdered in his room in the Slaughter Gulch Saloon by Fast Jarrett. Since then various legends have spun about the dead gunslinger, that Arizona Kid would come by the song of the vulture to haunt the spot of his death, and that he could be followed through his portrait, allegedly painted with his blood.

Events of Alone in the Dark 3[]

Edward Carnby enters an empty room, with a piece of newspaper lying on the ground that tells the story behind the legend of the ghost of Arizona Kid. When Edward approaches the painting, Arizona Kid jumps out of it and starts shooting around and the vulture on the clock starts singing. Carnby feeds the vulture a piece of dried meat, making Kid jump back to his portrait, vanishing, never to be seen again. The detective then follows him through the painting, reaching the boudoir on the other side.

Appearance[]

Arizona Kid appears wearing green gloves, a green shirt, dark blue jeans and brown pointy boots, while sporting a red ascot and a double holster for his guns. He has yellow empty eyes and brown hair.

Strategy[]

Arizona Kid acts initially as an obstacle, impeding the player's progress. As long as the player does not attack him, his shots won't harm Edward. He cannot be defeated by melee combat or firearms. Simply feed the vulture with the dried meat and it will stop singing, Kid will jump through his portrait and enable the player to proceed.

Trivia[]

  • Arizona Kid's character is a reference to Billy the Kid, an infamous outlaw that was killed by Pat Garrett, who in turn was the inspiration for Arizona's killer, Fast Jarrett.
  • If you follow him fast enough after he jumps inside his portrait, it is possible to see him walking for just a second before he vanishes.
