Since then, he worked as the Chief Doctor at Derceto, being responsible for the staff and treatment of the patients.
At some point, Dr. Gray visited the Hartwood home, who wanted Jeremy committed in Derceto due to his melancholy. Jeremy's brother Philip has been paying for the treatment ever since.
Alone in the Dark[]
Chapter 1[]
After opening the door, Edward and Emily are approached by Magdalene. Edward and Emily introduce themselves, but she tells them to leave. They learn that Jeremy is missing and go to his room to search for clues. Magdalene reluctantly accepts and goes to Dr. Gray. As they get to Jeremy's room, they don't find anything much useful. As they leave the room, either Edward or Emily is mysteriously transported to an alternate version of the French Quarter. After traversing the French Quarter through Miss Jackson's Parlor, they unexpectedly end up inside Dr. Gray's office.
In Edward's story, Dr. Gray demands to see his license, to which he complies. With that out of the way, Dr. Gray says he doesn't know where to find Jeremy and offers him a drink, he shares some details about Jeremy's mental state, which Carnby doesn't find too useful. Dr. Gray tells Carnby to ask the orderlies in the manor, so he leaves the office.
In Emily's story, Dr. Gray offers a seat and a drink after telling him she's not feeling well. Dr. Gray reminisces on his visit to her family's house before admitting Jeremy in Derceto. He questions why she brought a detective to the manor. Emily says she is worried Jeremy is getting mistreated and plans to take him back to New Orleans. Dr. Gray retaliates by speaking about her lack of condition to do, but he doesn't object. Emily asks for an idea of his whereabouts and Dr. Gray tells her to ask the staff and shows optimism that he'll turn up.
Chapter 2[]
Edward and Emily bump into each other outside the office, worried how they just disappeared. Either one of them can explain what happened and are only met with confusion, so they just brush it off. They leave as the other goes to speak with Dr. Gray.

Personality and Traits[]
Dr. Gray is a cold and enigmatic man. When Dr. Gray meets Edward or Emily, he demonstrates great composure, managing to keep calm when questioned. When speaking to Emily, he displays a good memory by remembering her taste for an Old Fashioned when he first visited her family. When Emily sees through his show, Dr. Gray seems frustrated but unshaken. After Emily assumes Jeremy is being mistreated and that she plans to take him away, he retaliates by belittling her condition to do so, and being very gruff on Jeremy's hardship.
When first speaking to Carnby, Dr. Gray is far more gentle. He adulates him by showing attraction to his occupation as a detective and makes him a cocktail even though Carnby didn't ask for one. Dr. Gray seems to be a drink connoisseur, with some knowledge on preparing cocktails, making a Sidecar for Carnby and an Old Fashioned for Emily.
When asked about Jeremy's problem, Dr. Gray is clinical about the cause of his melancholy, understanding it as a distorted perception of reality to avoid admitting to his faults.
