The French Quarter, also known as the Vieux Carré, is the oldest neighborhood in the city of New Orleans. After New Orleans was founded in 1718, the city developed around the Vieux Carré, a central square. The district is more commonly called the French Quarter, or simply "The Quarter", related to changes in the city with American immigration after the 1803 Louisiana Purchase.
This neighborhood is the home of many businesses, such as the roots & medicine store Johnny the Conqueror, Thornhill's, Gloria Allen's French Antiques, Private Investigator Edward Carnby's Office and Miss Jackson's Place which is one amongst many Voodoo Stores around the place.
