Jeremy's Warning is a clue in Alone in the Dark (2024).
History[]
Alone in the Dark Prologue[]
Jeremy Hartwood is startled by Grace Saunders as he finishes his letter. He asks her if she is a spy for the cult, but scoffs at the possibility. Fearing that the letter might be intercepted by the staff at Derceto, Grace offers to make the envelope with her handwriting to make the letter seem as her own. When turning to ask for the number on the address, Jeremy seems to have vanished, so Grace goes the Clerk's Office to post the letter herself. The letter eventually reaches Emily Hartwood's home.
Alone in the Dark[]
After receiving the disturbing letter, Emily Hartwood hires the help of Private Investigator Edward Carnby to check on her uncle and take him back to New Orleans. The letter is a warning originally intended to keep Emily away from Derceto, claiming the staff and patients are a cult plotting to awaken the bayou and that he is surrendering his life to the Dark Man as a sacrifice to stop it.
Transcript[]
Dearest Emily,
Derceto is the prey of evil and now they are all in on it. The staff and
all the patients are nothing more than a mindless cult set to awaken
the bayou.
I see now that it was wrong of me to try to survive the madness of
the Dark Man. You will also learn that soon enough. Every hour that
passes where I deny him his right to my sanity, makes it worse for
the people I care about. He perfectly staged this world in order to
conduct my fall.
And I have to fall, Emily.
Stay away, my dearest niece. Stay as far away from Derceto as you
can. Someday you may understand what I have done. May God
forgive me.
Farewell
Jeremy Hartwood
