History[]
Background[]
Jeremy is a painter and sculptor who found himself attached to the Dark Man, a powerful being gradually driving him into madness. Jeremy was perceived by society and his family as a madman, getting him committed in Derceto, a home for the mentally fatigued. While under care in the facility, Jeremy sends a letter to her niece Emily Hartwood in an attempt to keep her away, saying the staff and patients are part of a cult with a plan to unleash evil upon the world. However, this attempt backfires and Emily hires Private Investigator Edward Carnby to help her bring him home.
Early life[]
Alone in the Dark Prologue[]
Grace Saunders is making a paper mache mask with what seems to be a manuscript when she hears a noise in another room, she finds Jeremy deeply disturbed and paranoid, saying he needs to send a letter to his niece, Emily Hartwood. Jeremy seems to be too scared to send the letter, fearing the Dark Man might be watching him, so Grace offers to help him make it look like it's not his own. While filling the envelope with Emily's address, Grace notices the lack of a number and turns to ask Jeremy, to see that he has suddenly vanished. Grace then proceeds to post the letter herself.
