Alone in the Dark Wiki

Jim Burris, mostly known as Lone Miner, is a minor antagonist in Alone in the Dark 3.

History[]

Background[]

Lone Miner used to work as a coyote, smuggling liquor into the jail cells. He seems to hold a grudge for the executioner.

He was wanted Dead or Alive for US$ 400, and it was said that he was so greedy that he would meet his demise only if shot by a gold bullet.

Events of Alone in the Dark 3[]

Lone Miner can be found hiding in the Prison rooftops. Carnby manages to shoot him dead with a gold bullet (or with gold coins). He drops a bag full of scorpions that he was saving for the executioner.

Appearance[]

Lone Miner has black hair, and wears a short buttoned-up leather coat, dark trousers and long cavalry boots, accompanied by a light grey hat and cavalry gloves, while sporting a bandit mask.

Strategy[]

Lone Miner cannot die from regular bullets, there are two possible ways to kill him:

  • Obtain the Winchester in the sheriff's office and load it with the gold bullet retrieved from the barkeeper, then aim and shoot him, he will die instantly. Make sure to have a good aim on him, as there is only one gold bullet available.
  • If you miss the shot, hit him with the whip to obtain a bag full of gold coins, load the shotgun with them and shoot him. Like the gold bullet, you have only one shot, so make it count. Otherwise, you won't make progress and will need to load a previous save file.

Trivia[]

  • Jim appears to have an affinity for scorpions, being seen with scorpions in his shoulder and hat in the wanted poster.
