The Lasting Debt is a clue in Alone in the Dark (2024).

Overview[]

The Lasting Debt is a telegram sent to Edward Carnby by Obed Morton after hearing from Gloria Allen that he's got a job at the "loony bin". Worried that Carnby would pay her off before him, he calls for a meet at the Maccabean.

This debt is likely Carnby's main motivation for taking the job, as he seems to carry this burden for at least 2 years, as he got in trouble with the Morton Gang before due to a gambling debt.

Transcript[]

Carnby, why am I hearing from Gloria Allen that you got some job at
the loony bin? You better not be thinking of paying her off before
me. I don't want to take you for a ride. so get me my money.
I'll be at the Maccabean all night if you score some dough

Obed Morton
