Leave me be… I’m gonna… die… I’m gonna… die…
The mutilated man, losing hope of living through his injury.

The unnamed mutilated man is a small character in Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare.

History[]

The mutilated man is one of the sailors who allegedly transport food to Shadow Island on behalf of the Morton family. It is assumed that he may be one of the men sent by Christopher Lamb. Several of his companions can be found near the beach.

Just before being able to leave Shadow Island with the final boarding, Alan Morton shot the sailors in order to use their bodies in his experiments. One of them, while managing to escape, lost an arm in a clash with the creatures on the island, finding refuge in an old farmhouse just outside the villa.

At some point later in time, he is joined by detective Edward Carnby, who just parachuted on Shadow Island from a seaplane. Trying to understand what happened, the man warns Carnby that the whole island is infested with monsters and that he needs to escape as soon as possible. The detective takes a key from him which gives access to the garden of the villa and leaves. As Carnby gets some distance from the house, he is jumped by a creature that would put an end to his life.

Appearance[]

The mutilated man appears wearing standard sailor attires, with a blue sweater, beige pants and big work boots. He bears scars in his face that seem prior to the events of Shadow Island but covered in bruises and scratches, with a part of his hair missing from his head. He is seen holding the area of his severed left arm, with his sweater completely ripped, and a very pale skin and wet hair caused by the cold and the rain, and the shock from his fight with the Creatures of Darkness.

Trivia[]

  • Even though Edward offers to give him some bullets, the count in his inventory remains unchanged the conversation.
  • In the PS1 version it can be quite hard to notice his mangled body due to the resolution, making his parts mix with the blood.
