An Oil Can is a container of said substance that can be found in Alone in the Dark and Alone in the Dark 3, with different purposes.

Oil Can (Fuel)[]

An Oil Can is a container of fuel for the lamp in Alone in the Dark and Alone in the Dark 3.

Alone in the Dark (1992)[]

Characteristics[]

After obtaining an Oil Can, it can be used to fill the Oil Lamp with 50 units of oil. After filling the Oil Lamp, the Oil Can changes to An empty oil can and left in the inventory menu, which can be discarded.

The oil runs out slowly and needs to be refilled, but it is recommended to watch out not to waste precious oil, using it only when extremely necessary.

Acquisition[]

It can be found around Derceto Manor, in the Loft and in the Kitchen.

Alone in the Dark 3[]

Characteristics[]

It has the same function in Alone in the Dark 3. It is used to light up the unlit lamp in order to acess the cellar in the Saloon, but it is only used once and is discarded automatically after use.

Unlike the first game, the oil only runs out after a specific part in the story.

Oil Can (Lubricant)[]

The Oil Can is an item in Alone in the Dark 3.

Overview[]

It can be found in the Kitchen of the Town Hall, on top of the table in the middle. It is used to lubricate the gears in the fireplace to access the Dance Hall.

Even though it is a jar, it shares the same name as an oil can in the Inventory Menu and cannot be used to light up the lamp, possibly an oversight on development.
