- Philip's name is a continuation to the name Jeremy Hartwood's father from the original 1992 game, Howard, which is a reference it to Howard Phillips Lovecraft, creator of the Cthulhu Mythos which is a major inspiration for the themes and characters in the Alone in the Dark series.
